I have been inspired lately.
I don’t know what really happened, but it seems like when I turned 30 a few weeks ago, a light bulb went off. I woke up inspired and switched gears. One of the things that I have been trying to do is start every morning with 5 things that I am grateful for. Now this concept is not my own. I was inspired by the ever-so-chic #girlboss Cara Alwill Leba. This is something that she does every morning. Cara is inspiring and I thought, “if it’s good enough for Cara, it’s good enough for me!” So every morning when I first wake up, before reaching for my phone or complaining I immediately think to myself 5 things that I am grateful for. At first, this wasn’t an easy task. But I am learning that however you spend the first 20 or so minutes of your day can set the tone for the rest of the day. I don’t want to be miserable. Life is too short for that. I have set out to celebrate every day as if it is my birthday. I’m never miserable on my birthday.
I posted this photo on my Instagram and personal Facebook page earlier this week and I was overwhelmed with the comments and the messages I received. So many ladies told me they never thought to start their days like this. In the few short weeks that I have been doing this I have noticed a change. By taking it a step further and writing my gratitude down, I can remind myself how blessed I am even if I don’t feel it.

When you get into a slump, you can go back and read all of the things that you are blessed to have in your life.
