"Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek."
- Barack Obama
Meet the Candidate:
Jerakah is running with our community in mind. She is focusing on transparency, effective communication and cultivating a community where everyone’s voice can be heard.
Jerakah grew up one lake over in the village of Penn Yan where she became an active voice in and for the community. In 2009 she joined AmeriCorps, spending a year working with local youth and created multigenerational programming in Yates County. Jerakah advocates for her community and in doing so hopes to inspire others.
Starting in 2017, Jerakah began hosting events. Through her efforts, she has spearheaded a community and movement of women, and monetary fundraisers totaling over $16,000 for local charities and nonprofits. Some of these include: First Step Victim Services, M.R. Hess Home Works, The Cayuga Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and more.
Jerakah and her husband, Trevor; a 20 year retired Veteran of The United States Air Force, married in August of 2013 and purchased their home on Main Street in Burdett in November 2017.
When not working at Graft Wine and Cider Bar, you will mostly likely find Jerakah at the Village Playground with her son Jax, or out for a walk around town.
It’s time to live our purpose, on purpose.

A Few Fun Facts…
01. Coffee is my love language.
The Gilmore Girls have nothing on me. My go-to coffee order from the chain coffee world is a caramel macchiato or an iced brown sugar shaken espresso. From Seneca Sunrise Coffee, it’s a double espresso with pumpkin spice (all year ‘round) and oat milk. On the rare occasion I make coffee at home (read, daily) it’s usually with vanilla, caramel & oat milk.
02. I’m OBSESSED with the Golden Girls!
No seriously. My love for these 4 women is alarming to some, but to me, it’s just the right amount. The show is on repeat daily around my house and even my toddler knows them all by name and will sing the theme song!
03. I love cultivating community!
Serving this community is one of the most fulfilling things! They say if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life and I LOVE the work I do!
I know that having a thriving community is the key to success and I want to create the best community for the next generation. I appreciate all of the support during this endeavor!
